Little Miss Sassafras joined our herd in the summer of 2022. She came from a fantastic farm in Maine that had decided to shift from miniature Jerseys to Brown Swiss.

Sassy settled nicely into life on the farm and was due with her first calf on June 28, 2023. Unfortunately, Sassy’s labor never progressed and, after several days of her being uncomfortable with no progress, the vet was called. On June 23, 2023, Sassy delivered a beautiful heifer calf via emergency C-section. Our vet was not able to pull the calf with standard measures, most likely due to a fractured pelvis that happened late in her pregnancy. Sassy fought so valiantly to live and love on her precious calf but, after three weeks of doing all we could to fight alongside her, she passed quietly. We are all just heartbroken to lose her, but could not be more thankful for the most wonderful gift she left us to remember her by, Tin Stone Little Cricket.
