We are a small farm in north Alabama, where we are passionate about raising and milking miniature Jerseys. We love our girls and would keep them all if we could, but do occasionally have a mini Jersey cow cow or calf available. We are dedicated to raising our animals to the best of our ability and stewarding our property in a way that benefits the animals as well as the land. Feel free to use the contact us form below to reach out – we *love* to talk about our animals!
One of the really nice things about having a bull is that they are experts at determining which cows are in, or are getting ready to go into, heat. Today we turned everyone out together (we’ve been running the milkers separately) and Rango zeroed in on Lilibet, Etta and Pumpkin. Since Lili is due to go into heat anytime, we held our breath and watched… he sniffed and sniffed and walked away from all the girls except Etta. Etta should be going into heat soon and the plan is to breed her back to Rango, so we are saying our prayers that Etta is the only one who needs to be bred! Pumpkin is due to go into heat next week so we will continue to watch and wait… if neither she nor Lili goes into heat we will do pregnancy tests to confirm in March 🙏🏻 #rangotheminijersey #lilitheminijersey #minijersey
This little hen was just an egg when we moved here last spring… her broody mom decided to set on a secret nest and the whole crew had to ride in a kennel in the front seat of my truck when we drove to our new farm ❤️ This little one ended up having a weak leg and we thought she might not make it, but my youngest daughter babied her and now she’s almost as strong as her sisters (and she’s much more friendly) 🥰 She’s even big enough to start wanting to go broody herself 🤣 #bantamhen #bantamcalico
Adding one more shed to the farm 🏡 This one is set in a smaller paddock, along the fenceline that encloses the big pasture. We will use this during non-grazing months for housing cow and calves, and feeding out hay. But in the summer, the hay area will be empty and function as a rear entrance, making the shed accessible from the back, and allowing the cows to come in from the main pasture for shade. It measures 40’ x 10’ and includes two 10’ x 16’ stalls along with an 8’ x 10’ center section for winter hay 🌱 So excited to get it finished in time for the summer heat – we have very limited shade when the cows are grazing the main pasture and I think they’re going to love it ☀️ #minijersey #shedbuild
Nothing I love more than keeping in touch with the folks that we entrust with one of our animals… and even more when they send me updated pictures 🥰 Just look at how wonderful Mr. Darcy looks – clearly so well loved on his new farm, Sugar Belle’s Best ❤️ #mrdarcytheminijersey #minijersey
Daisy doesn’t know it yet, but she has wonderful things ahead 🌼 She is going to join the sweetest family in Texas to be their future milk cow ☀️ We had so many inquiries for her but hadn’t found a perfect match, until this family 🥹 She’s going to be so happy there! We get to keep her here for a little longer… and we are going to enjoy her all we can 💛 #daisytheminijersey #minijersey
Three inches of rain expected over the next two days… so we spent today getting all the stalls clean and our hay-feeding areas full 🌱 This little hay shed was an on-the-fly build but I love the way it turned out… pretty sure the cows do too 🏡#mabeltheminijersey #minijersey
